Patras Bokhari Award for Feryal Ali Gauhar

Writer Feryal Ali Gauhar’s novel No Space for Further Burials has been awarded the Patras Bokhari Award for best English fiction in Pakistan by the Pakistan Academy of Letters.Gauhar was one of the participants from Pakistan at the South Asia Colloquium (21-23 Februaury, 2007) in Delhi.

This powerful novel unfolds the tragedy of Afghanistan, as told by the captive narrator in hauntingly beautiful prose. In a stunning denouement the author makes clear that there is no winning this war, there is only a ravaged country and those who manage to survive its insanity.The novel was published in 2007 by Women Unlimited, the feminist publishing house started by Ritu Menon, Convenor, Founder Member & Trustee – Women’s WORLD India and Founder Member Women’s WORLD (International).


Gauhar’s earlier works include a novel The Scent of Wet in Earth in August (2002) and a film Tibbi Galli (1997).
